MMTA President's Message
To all who attended the 2000 MMTA State Convention at Missouri Western, I wish to say thank you for your participation. Please make plans now to attend the 2001 MMTA State Convention hosted by Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, from November 8 through Sunday, November 11. The Co-Convention Artists are Angela Cheng and Alvin Chow. Please contact MMTA President-Elect, Millie Mehnert, should you have any program suggestions for the fall convention. She's already hard at work making plans. Encourage your MMTA member friends to make time in their busy schedules to include the November 2001 convention. The state convention is also a good conversation point in encouraging new members to join MMTA/MTNA. Please contact me should you ever need any publications regarding the benefits of membership in MMTA/MTNA, but your enthusiasm for this organization is the best advertising.
At the 2000 convention MMTA Immediate Past President, Dr. William Brown, received a plaque due to his dedicated work to MMTA these past four years. This was a deserved honor. Congratulations to Dr. Brown! Much appreciation also goes to Missouri Western State College, Jerry Anderson, David Bennett, and the St. Joseph Local Association for hosting the successful 2000 convention.
To those who attended the convention and/or had students participating in the convention, I hope you will take a musical minute to write a whole note of appreciation to your MMTA officers and chairpersons who worked throughout the year in bringing to all state members the excellent state convention and auditions. These devoted people work many, many hours for MMTA.
Please visit the MMTA web page. Thank you to MMTA Vice-President for Auditions, Brent Hugh, who not only has created the page, but continually includes updates.
