    Minutes - MMTA Executive Committee

     

    November 11, 1999

     

    President Bill Brown called the MMTA Executive Committee meeting to order on Nov. 11, 1999, at 6:30 p.m., at the McClelland Dining Facility at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri.

    Members present were President-Elect Steven Houser, Immediate Past President Marilyn Lowe, Vice President Auditions Rebecca Fulgham, Vice President Local Associations Kathy Miller, Vice President Publications Virginia Schilb, Treasurer Lynda Quistorff, Secretary Ginger Schneider, Piano Pedagogy chair Jane McDaniel, and Executive Secretary Carol Borgstadt.

    President Brown welcomed everyone to Boliver and introduced special guests: Gary Ingle, Executive Director of MTNA, and Brent Hugh, the creator of the MMTA website.

    It was moved, seconded, and passed (MSP) to approved the minutes from the February 28, 1999, meeting as printed in the Fall Board Meeting packet. MSP to accept the treasurer's report provided by Treasurer Lynda Quistorff.

    OLD BUSINESS:

    MMTA WEB SITE: Brent Hugh has set up the new web site. A more detailed report will be presented at the MMTA Board meeting immediately following the executive committe meeting. The address is www.MissouriMTA.org .

    NEW BUSINESS:

    MTNA Executive Director Gary Ingle extended greetings from MTNA President Joan M. Reist and the Board of Directors. Mr. Ingle expressed the desire of MTNA to be in communication with its membership concerning all topics of interest including certification, competitions, et cetera. He said that focus must be kept on the independent music teachers because they are the backbone of music education. Mr. Ingle reminded that the NEW WEB ADDRESS OF MTNA is: www.MTNA.org .

    CONVENTION SITE FOR 2000:

    President Brown and President-Elect Houser will continue working on securing a site for next year's convention.

    Members will be informed of the date for the next meeting. MSP to adjourn the meeting at 7:15 p.m.
