David McKamie, Professor of Music at Truman State University, was the guest artist at the 1999 Amadeus Piano Festival held at the University of Tulsa. He performed a solo recital and conducted master classes during the week-long event.

Elizabeth Entenman, student of Jean Duggan, and Alexandra Assareh, student of Gwen Peiper, were named finalists in the 43rd World Piano Competition held in Cincinnati, July 16-17, 1999. They were awarded medals, monetary prizes and the invitation to perform in the World Piano Recital held in Weil Hall, Carnegie Hall, October 9, 1999. Earlier both students received first class honors in the Evaluative Auditions held in the St. Louis Region in March. Other students from the Musical Arts Academy of Webster Groves named semi-finalists at the regional auditions were Josephine Pang, Sarah Shumway, Douglas Witt, Kathlene Kayembe and Drew Yaeger. The event is presented annually by the American Music Scholarship Association located in Cincinnati.

Following a tenure of seventeen years at Northwest Missouri State University, Richard Bobo will retire in order to join his family in Ohio. Bobo came to Northwest to chair the music department in 1983. He left that capacity in 1993 in order to return to full time teaching, particularly in the areas of applied piano and music literature. In Ohio Bobo plans to do volunteer church work and teach part time.

Kirk and Clifford Hou and Susie Stanley participated in master classes for the World Piano Pedagogy Conference held in St. Louis on Oct. 20-23. Kirk and Clifford also performed four hand literature on the Friends of Music Concert Series on November 14 at Eliot Unitarian Chapel in Kirkwood.
