    Minutes of the MMTA Board

    March 12, 2000

    President William Brown called the MMTA Board meeting to order on March 12, 2000, at 3:00 p.m., at the home of President-Elect Steven Houser in Jefferson City, Missouri. Members present included President Brown, President-Elect Steven Houser, Vice President Local Associations Kathy Miller, Vice President Publications Virginia Schlib, Treasurer Lynda Quistorff, Secretary Ginger Schneider, Nominating Committee Chair Jan Houser, and Executive Secretary Carol Borgstadt.

    MINUTES: MSP (motion made, seconded, and passed) to AMEND "MSP MMTA WILL PAY FOR THREE MONTHS OF E-MAIL SERVICE FOR THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY" TO READ "MSP MMTA WILL PAY FOR THREE MONTHS OF E-MAIL SERVICE EACH YEAR FOR THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY." MSP to accept the minutes from the January 23, 2000, Executive Committee meeting as amended and as read by Ginger Schneider.

    TREASURER: MSP to accept the 2000-2001 budget proposal as presented by Lynda Quistorff. Student Travel Grant money ($50 for each of the fourteen students from Missouri) was received from the Allen I. McHose Scholarship Fund of the MTNA Foundation. Lynda Quistorff, as outgoing treasurer, will serve as mentor to the incoming treasurer until the filing of the non-profit organization tax return has been completed.

    MSP TO INCLUDE WEB SITE MAINTENANCE FOR $400 AS AN ITEM IN THE ANNUAL BUDGET.

    REPORTS:

    PRESIDENT: Dr. Brown will continue working with the Nominating Committee to fill slots for officers and chairpersons. Including a Mentoring Chair has been suggested.

    Information concerning the MMTA Teacher of the Year program will be in the next NOTES.

    The University of Missouri at Columbia will host the 2002 Division Meeting.

    PRESIDENT-ELECT: Steven Houser presented tentative plans and schedules for the 2000 convention to be held at Missouri Western in St. Joseph, Missouri.

    VICE PRESIDENT AUDITIONS: The board re-affirmed MMTA policy concerning district audition chairs: each district will provide the name of their chairperson to the Vice President Auditions by July 1 of each year.

    VICE PRESIDENT LOCAL ASSOCIATIONS: MSP to approve a $300 grant to the Rolla Area Music Teachers Association for a Master Class and recital for students to be presented by Raymond Herbert on April 7, 2000.

    VICE PRESIDENT PUBLICATIONS: Virginia Schlib requested help from all MMTA members in obtaining sponsors for NOTES.

    NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Jan Houser will continue working on a slate of officers for 2000-2001.

    EXECUTIVE SECRETARY: Carol Borgstadt compiled a history of MMTA MSP (Motions, Seconded and Passed) by the Executive Committee and the MMTA Board, beginning with the February 26, 1995, Board meeting.

    There are 454 MMTA members at this time.

    The next MMTA Board meeting will be held in conjunction with the MMTA convention on Thursday, November 9, 2000, at the Ramada Inn in St.Joseph, Missouri, at 7:30 p.m. The Executive Committee will meet at 7:00 p.m.

    The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m.
