Local Association Activities The Springfield Area Music Teachers Association held its annual "Sessions in Sound" event at Evangel University on March 5. Fifty students participated representing six of the area's teachers. Judges were Chianne Yi Liao from Southwest Missouri State University, Luis Rojas from Point Lookout, and Greg Morris from Evangel University. Warrensburg Area Music Teachers Association presented it's 15th annual "Monster Concert" on February 12 in Hart Recital at Central Missouri State University. More than 100 students from the studios of 10 different teachers performed in the program of multi-piano duets. The teachers also performed two selections for the program. This program is a benefit for WAMTA's scholarship fund. WAMTA gives 3 scholarships annually to pre-college students to attend summer music camp, and 1 scholarship annually to an upperclass music major at CMSU. This year's music camp scholarships were awarded to Sonja and Shane Burns, students of Richard Smith, and Samantha Hill, student of Marilyn True, at auditions held at the WAMTA Music Festival on February 27. The collegiate auditions will be held in April. All scholarship winners will perform at the final meeting of the year on April 30.
