Hye-Jung Hong accepts nomination as MMTA Co-VP/Auditions

Hye-Jung Hong of Springfield has accepted the nomination as MMTA's Co-Vice-President for Auditions (adjudicators).
Elections of MMTA officers will be held at the upcoming MMTA conference in Liberty, Missouri, November 8-11, 2006.
If elected, Hong will serve with her husband, Wei-Han Su, who is Vice-President for Auditions (scheduling).
Hong's biography:
Since giving her debut at the Palace of Arts in Seoul, Korea, Hye-Jung Hong has performed to critical acclaim in recitals in Germany, Holland, Italy, Malaysia and Canada. In the U.S., she has appeared as concerto soloist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and has given numerous solo and collaborative concerts. She has performed at the Missouri Music Teachers Association State Convention, and has appeared on concert series in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. In 2004, she appeared as guest artist at the Amadeus Piano Festival in Oklahoma.
A first-prize winner of many piano competitions, including the Han-Kuk-Il-Bo Competition and the Wol-Gan Piano Competition, she has studied with internationally acclaimed musicians Julian Martin, Leon Fleisher, Daewook Lee and Dominique Weber. She was invited to attend the Holland Music Festival, the Orford Music Festival in Canada, and the Venice Piano Festival where she studied with Boris Berman, John Perry and Marc Durand. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Peabody Conservatory. Hong is on the piano faculty at Missouri State University. She currently serves as state chair for the Missouri Music Teachers Association collegiate auditions.
