2006 MTNA Composition winners from Missouri announced

Here are the results of the 2006 MTNA State Student Composition Competition, from MTNA composition chair Mara Gibson:
We had a very competitive year with a total of 13 student composers.

Young Artist winner: Katie Andres, "Moodswings"
Teacher: Marcia Spence

Senior winner: Jamie Harshbarger, "Psalm 4"
Teacher: Kathy Miller

Junior winner: Victoria Yu, "A Dream of Nature"
Teacher: Mabel Kinder

Elementary winner: Blaise Rebman, "Headphone Harold"
Teacher: Mara Gibson

Additionally, based on adjudicator's extremely positive comments and some VERY close scores, three honorable mentions were awarded:

Beth Mitchell (elementary)
Teacher: Mara Gibson

Elizabeth Salley (junior)
Teach: Kathy Miller

Joshua Hey (senior)
Teacher: Mara Gibson

This years outstanding adjudicators included Chen Yi of the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Amy Williams of the University of Pittsburgh and Xiao-ou Hu, the 2006 Missouri State Commissioned Composer Winner.
