PAST CONFERENCE: 2005 MMTA Conference and Auditions in Columbia, Missouri The 2005 MMTA Conference was held at University of Missouri-Columbia in Columbia, Missouri, November 3-6, 2005. Most conference meetings will be in Fine Arts Building - Music wing, which is across the street from Memorial Union clock tower and across Lowry Mall from the Ellis Library front doors (map). Music competitions will be in both Memorial Union and Fine Arts, plus Jesse Auditorium (map) Parking will be available in the University Avenue Garage (map). Note that 8AM-5PM weekdays, the University Avenue Garage will require a parking permit. Permits will be available at the registration desk (so you will have to park first, get a permit at the registration desk, then return to your car to display the permit). Reservations should be made by October 17, 2005, to guarantee the convention rate. Be sure to request the "Missouri Music Teachers Association rate" when calling. Contact Information for other Columbia area hotels and motels Visitor info for Columbia (including activities, attractions, and accommodations) Directions from the Conference Hotel (Best Western Columbia Inn) to the University Avenue Parking Garage on campus: From the Columbia Best Western Inn, take Keene Street (to the east of hotel, between the Inn and Patricia's IGA grocery store) south/right. Follow to it's end, which will be Broadway Street; go west/right on Broadway. In about a mile, turn south/left at the stoplight on College Avenue. Continue to the next stoplight at University Avenue, and turn west/right. The University Avenue Garage will be the highrise parking structure on your right in about a block. Walk from the parking garage in the same direction you were driving on University Avenue (west) to the next intersection at Hitt Street. Take a left/south walking on Hitt to the Fine Arts Building. Walk along Hitt Street to the south end of the building. Memorial Union is on your left and the Fine Arts Building, Music wing will be on your right. Past Conference: 2004 MMTA Mini-Conference and Auditions in St. Joseph, Missouri The 2004 MMTA Mini-Conference was held at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, Missouri, November 4-7, 2004. Conference Pre-registration form [Text format]. Parking Some teachers will receive parking passes in the mail prior to conference (for teacher/student use). If you do not receive a parking pass in advance, you can pick one up at the registration/check-in desk in the Potter Fine Arts Building Lobby. Parking passes are only needed Mon-Fri 8:00AM-4:30PM. The location for the convention is Johnson County Community College (JCCC), which is in the Kansas City metropolitan area about two miles from the Missouri-Kansas border. JCCC has wonderful performance and conference facilities and easy freeway access. All competitions will be held as usual during the week of the conference. All competitions (except for the organ competition, which will be held at a nearby church) will be held at Johnson County Community College, just a few steps away from conference sessions. Past Conference: 2002 MMTA Conference--Truman State University Truman State University, Kirksville, MO, has agreed to host the 2002 MMTA State Conference. The dates are October 31, November 1,2, and 3, 2002.
