MMTA, as part of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), supports MTNA's Certification program, and many MMTA members are MTNA Certified.
MTNA's
Certification program was established in 1967 to assist the
general public in recognizing high standards of the music-teaching
profession. Earning MTNA Certification means that a music teacher's
qualifications have been evaluated and approved by a board of national
leaders in the field of music teaching. MTNA Certification represents
outstanding achievement, assuring music students of all ages that the
teacher is educated, accomplished, ethical and professional.
The MTNA Certification Web Page details the goals and requirements of Certification. At that page, you can download/print all necessary forms and instructions needed to become MTNA Certified.
Certified teacher wishing to renew certification should visit MTNA's Online Certification Renewal Application.
