Dear Teachers:

Enclosed is a schedule of audition times for your students in the MMTA State Honors Auditions which will be held at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, MO, November 6th and 7th, 2004. Also included is a letter for you to give to each of your students. Please duplicate it and fill in the student’s name, audition I.D. number, audition day and time, and audition location.

  1. No changes in the schedule will be allowed.
  2. Participants must check in at the Auditions Table in the lobby of the Potter Fine Arts Building 30 minutes prior to their audition time. Students should know their audition I.D. number.
  3. Judges’ copies of the audition pieces will be examined as part of the check-in process.

  2. Measures must be numbered
  3. The music should be clean of marks although fingerings, pedalings, bowings and translations of terms or texts are allowed
  4. Any names written on the music must be covered or erased prior to check-in
  1. Some practice rooms will be available. However, due to the large enrollment, there will be a time limit for each room.
  2. Ratings will be posted in the lobby of Potter, and announcements will be made there.

  4. The 2003 Winners Recital will be held on Sunday, November 7th in the auditorium. This is always a highlight of the convention. Please encourage your students to attend.

The MMTA State Pre-College Honors Auditions will be held at Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, MO on November 6th and 7th, 2004. All piano auditions take place on Sunday, November 7th. Your audition information is as follows:

Participants should know their I.D. number, as they will be referred to by number rather than by name at the audition. Materials given to the judges may not contain the name of the student or the teacher.

Students must check in at the Auditions Table in the lobby of the Potter Fine Arts Building 30 minutes prior to their audition time. At this time, please show the judge’s copy of your audition pieces to the person checking you in. Measures must be numbered. The music must be reasonably clean, although fingerings, pedalings, bowings and translations of terms or texts are allowed. If the name of the student or teacher is written on the music, it must be covered prior to check-in. No unauthorized reproductions of copyrighted music may be used.

There will be a few practice rooms available. Because of the large number of students participating, a time limit will be observed. Winners will be announced and ratings will be posted in the lobby of the Potter Fine Arts Building.
